The founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, promised on Monday at COP26 in Glasgow to allocate one billion dollars to the Great Green Wall, a project to reforest a vast strip of land that crosses 11 African countries. This is in addition to the $19 billion the project received in January.
At Monday's meeting, which was attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, Prince Charles and businessman Jeff Bezos, among others, Bezos said his foundation would "make a $1 billion commitment tomorrow to land restoration, primarily in Africa.
A commitment that concerns the Great Green Wall project, which he believes needs to be accelerated significantly.
"We went to get Prince Charles and it was Prince Charles who went to get Jeff Bezos," said Emmanuel Macron.
