Ghana: Cocoa production, the ceiling is broken in 2020/2021

Ghana is posting a "record high" cocoa harvest in 2020/2021. According to sources at the Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod), it is jumping the 1 million ton mark in 2011. The world's second largest producer is producing 1.1 million tons of the brown gold in the current season.

In recent years, Ghanaian cocoa production has been struggling with natural shortages. For example, the various diseases of cocoa trees and climatic hazards (irregular rainfall). Since the 2010/2011 campaign, Ghana has stagnated at a level below 1 million tons. In 2019/2020, the sum of the cocoa harvest is 770,000 tons.
