Botswana regains its place as a pilot country in the mining sector

Botswana leads the ranking of countries with the most attractive mining jurisdiction in Africa. This was published on 23 February in the Fraser Institute’s 2020 report.

It is also the largest diamond producer in Africa. It has made a big breakthrough in the top 10 of the world ranking. However, it was 44th in the world in 2019, in 11th place.

Botswana’s great progress so far is the result of a better perception of the sector players of the agreed regulations. The country has moved up from 22nd place globally to 15th place in mining policy reporting.

In 2019, Guinea took its place at the top of the ranking. The report of the Canadian think tank, Fraser Institute, includes 77 countries by the year 2020. African countries were registered at 13 countries. However, in 2019, the report was made on 76 countries of which 10 countries among them were African.
