The draw for the first edition of the FIFA Arab Cup, which will take place in Qatar from 1 to 18 December 2021, was made last night in Doha. Chance has provided us with some great matches. Among them, the one that will oppose Algeria and Egypt, both teams being part of group D.
Getting ready for the World Cup
This competition will allow Qatar to prepare for the World Cup, which they will be organising one year from now. A total of 23 teams will take part – 12 from Asia and 11 from Africa. But only 16 of them will take part in the group stage, after a play-off that will be played over one match.
There have been some interesting matches as a result of chance. Algeria and Egypt are in Group D, while Saudi Arabia’s French coach Hervé Renard will face Morocco, whom he coached from 2016 to 2019. Tunisia, meanwhile, have inherited the United Arab Emirates, Syria and the winner of the Mauritania-Yemen match.
The matches will be played in six stadiums, with the top two finishers in each group advancing to the quarter-finals.
